Taking in the magic of Cape Town - regularly voted as one of the world's most beautiful cities - and the hip, happening vibe of Johannesburg - the "city of gold," this exciting safari also includes stays in five-star hotels and three nights in the heart of the legendary Kruger National Park at the luxurious Lukimbi Safari Lodge with guided game drives in an open safari vehicle on a 37,000-acre private concession.

Award-winning breweries

Our tour has been tailored to take in the very best of South Africa's vibrant craft beer industry with visits to award-winning breweries in both Soweto, Johannesburg and Cape Town, giving you a broad sample of everything from township and city to niche micro breweries and brands that have achieved significant international reach.

Everything will have a uniquely African flavor, from an evening in a Johannesburg jazz club to an authentic local restaurant in Cape Town that features traditional dance and music.

City tours

We'll be including cultural city tours in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, exploring local markets, and doing some sightseeing as we go, diving into the rich, diverse and often controversial history of South Africa along the way.

South Africa's commercial capital, Johannesburg is known as "Egoli" - meaning the city of gold - thanks to the discovery here in 1853 of rich deposits of this precious metal. It's gold that put it on the map and saw it grow into one of the wealthiest cities in the world.

Today, Johannesburg is a cultural melting pot and a fascinating blend of everything that makes South Africa so special, with a trendy art and music scene and, of course, some fabulous breweries.

The "mother city" of Cape Town is the oldest in the country, having been founded in 1652 by the Dutch East India Company as an important refreshment station for its spice ships en-route to the Dutch East Indies. It grew in the shadow of one of the most iconic mountains on the planet - Table Mountain - and today is recognized for its cosmopolitan vibe, history, and beauty.

As part of your tour, you'll be ascending Table Mountain by cable car and spending time exploring its magnificent flat peak and enjoying some of the best views in the world. You'll also be visiting breweries and restaurants in this bustling modern city, exploring the magnificent Cape Peninsula, and taking a tour of the Cape Winelands and the vineyards that produce some of the best wines in the world.

A conservation legend

You'll be leaving the city life behind when you head to the iconic Kruger National Park, one of the most revered conservation areas in the world and a pristine African wilderness like no other. Your destination - Lukimbi Safari Lodge - is one of only seven private concessions inside the Kruger Park, located in the southern section of the reserve and bounded by three major river systems.

With no more than 32 guests at once traversing a huge area, this is an exclusive opportunity to see the fabled "Big Five" - elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo - at close quarters. The Lukimbi concession offers a range of habitats from grasslands and wooded thickets to dry river beds, rolling hills, and lush riparian forests. It's home to a diversity of wildlife species from plains game like impala, kudu, zebra, wildebeest and giraffe to predators like cheetah, painted wolves (African wild dogs) and hyena.

During your stay at Lukimbi you'll be going out on two guided game drives each day - one early morning safari and one afternoon/evening safari. You'll stop for tea and coffee en-route in the morning and for a safari tradition - sundowners - in the evening. All of Lukimbi's guides are qualified and experienced wilderness experts and are teamed with locally born trackers who understand the unique language of the African bush.

Guided river and bush walks are also available for those who want to experience the thrill of exploring wild Africa on foot.
